Kovalev Boris Nikolaevich

Boris Nikolayevich Kovalev was born on September 2 in 1965 in the Soletsky district of the Novgorod region, in the village of Medved. Boris Nikolaevich is an expert in the questions and problems of collaboration during the Second World War, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, as well as a leading researcher at the St. Petersburg Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences. From 1982 to 1987 he studied at the Faculty of History of the Novgorod State Pedagogical Institute, after graduation and until 1990, he was an assistant in the Department of History and Political Economy at the Novgorod Polytechnic Institute. From 1990 to 1993 – he was enrolled and started full-time postgraduate study at the Russian State Pedagogical University named after A. I. Herzen, where he defended his thesis for the degree of Candidate of historical sciences, on the topic “Anti-fascist struggle”. In 2002 at St. Petersburg State University he defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor of Historical Sciences on the topic “Nazi occupation regime and collaboration in Russia.” In 1998-2001 he studied for a doctorate at St. Petersburg State University. Author of over 300 scientific works, wrote such books as; “Nazi occupation regime and collaboration in Russia (1941-1944)”, “Collaboration in Russia in 1941-1945: types and forms”, “Russian constitutionalism during the Duma monarchy” , “Everyday life of Russian population during the Nazi occupation.” In 2000 he was awarded with a certificate of honor of the Director of the FSB of Russia, as well as a certificate of honor of the Ministry of Education and Science, which was awarded in 2010. In 2021, he received a gratitude from the President of the Russian Federation for “Great contribution to the preparation and holding of socially significant events.”In 2021, within the framework of the grant “Outstanding statesman and writer Sharaf Rashidov through the eyes of youth” (“Atokli davlat arbobi va yozuvchi Sharof Rashidov yoshlar nigohida”), issued by decree of the parliamentary commission No. 3 dated March 31, 2020 of The Public Fund under the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, with the support of the Scientific and Educational Memorial House-Museum named after Sharaf Rashidov the International, interdisciplinary scientific and practical conference “Sharaf Rashidov – Man of the Epoch” was held, where Boris Nikolayevich acted as a specialist in the field of history and participated in a plenary session with the report ” Sh.R. Rashidov in the battles against fascism in the North-West of Russia”.
